Assignment I

Answer the following in about 500 words each.

a. Discuss the concept of tribes and peasantry. Define the characteristics of a tribe and Indian village

b. Write a note on the history of tribal administration in India.

Answer the following in about 250 words each. (Write Short Notes)

a. Deliberate on the approaches to the study of peasants.

b. Write a note on the problems faced by tribes.

Answer the following questions in about 75 words each.

d. Planning Commission and NITI Aayog

e. Migration

a. What is Fieldwork? Explain the methods, tools and techniques you would use to collect data in a tribal village. Describe what would be your universe and unit of study.

Guidelines for Doing Assignments

There are five questions in each assignment, all carry equal marks. Attempt all the questions in not more than 500 words (each). You will find it useful to keep the following points in mind:

Planning: Read the assignments carefully. Go through the units on which they are based, make some points regarding each question and then rearrange them in a logical order

Organization and Presentation: Be analytical in your selection of the information for your answer. Give adequate attention to the introduction and the conclusion. Make sure that your answer is logical and coherent; has a proper flow of information.
