1) Based on the nutrients present in the feed, classify
feedstuffs into different types and give two examples for each type of
feedstuff along with their crude protein and energy contents.
2) Identify important minerals and vitamins (five each)
required by poultry birds and indicate their deficiency symptoms.
3) Define feed additives. Why are they added to the
poultry ration? How can we prevent mycotoxins?
4) Differentiate between Feed Conversion Ratio and Feed
Efficiency Ratio. Explain how to calculate them.
5) What do you mean by Pellet form of feed? Write
briefly its advantages and disadvantages.
6) What are different methods of feeding poultry? Write
briefly about controlled feeding method. Which methods are commonly practiced
in broilers and layers?
7) List out the factors influencing the feed quality.
8) What are the effects of hot weather on the feed
intake of birds?
9) Give the inclusion levels for the following
feedstuffs in the broiler and layer diets:
i) Fish meal
ii) Maize
iii) Molasses
iv) Soybean meal
v) Wheat bran
10) A feed mixture containing 23% Crude Protein (CP) to
be prepared using Maize (CP=10%) and Deoiled Groundnut Cake (CP=48%). Calculate
the amount (parts) required from Maize and Deoiled Groundnut Cake by Pearson
Square Method.

submitted and retain it. Keep photocopies of the assignments with you.
After evaluation, the assignments have to be returned to you by the Study
Centre. Please insist on this and keep a record with you. The marks obtained by
you will be sent by the Study Centre to the Student Evaluation Division at
IGNOU, New Delhi.

information for your answer. Give adequate attention to the introduction and
the conclusion. Make sure that your answer is logical and coherent; has a
proper flow of information.
